Test Results
Please call after 14:00pm to enquire about your test results as our reception staff will have more time to deal with your request. Please be aware that you will be asked for some personal details in order to verify your identity.
Note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.
If you have had a test carried out by the practice you can find out the result approximately seven days after you have had the test performed, although some tests do take a little longer. When you take your test you will be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice.
It is your responsibility to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if your are advised to do so.
If a test result comes back showing something of concern we always do our best to contact you, but sometimes this is not possible, so we do ask that you try to contact us and please make sure you let us have up-to-date contact details.
Please note: we do not routinely contact you if a result is normal.
The doctors are often able to discuss test results with you over the phone. You do not always have to make an appointment to talk about test results.
Sometimes patients have investigations arranged through the hospital consultants. The results from these tests do not automatically get forwarded onto your GP.
If you wish to know the result of a test which you had under the care of the hospital consultant you can phone and ask to speak to your consultant’s secretary.
Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.
